Ingredients to make Sevai Upma :
- Vermicelli /Sevai – 1 cup*
- Water – 1 cup
- Green Peas boiled – 3 tbsp
- Tomato chopped – 1
- Ginger chopped – 3/4 tsp
- Salt – 1 tsp
- Lemon juice – 1.5 tsp
- Chili powder – 1/2 tspTurmeric powder – 3/4 tsp
- For the Tadka :
- Refined Oil – 1 .5 tbsp
- Mustard Seeds /rai – 1 tsp
- Urad daal/White Lentils – 1 tsp
- Cashews/kaju broken – 1 tsp (optional)
- Curry Leaves – 6
- Chopped green chili – 2
How to make Sevai Upma :

Heat oil in a pan, add mustard, urad daal/white lentil, cashews & saute on medium heat.

As soon as the mustard starts crackling, add chopped green chili & vermicelli immediately. Saute on low heat.

Add in the curry leaves, boiled peas and stir fry for a few seconds. Add salt, turmeric, chili powder, chopped tomatoes, ginger and mix.

Pour in a cup of water, cover with a lid and let it simmer for 5-7 minutes. Add the lemon juice & fresh coriander and mix gently.

Switch off the flame and cover the pan and let it rest for a few minutes, so it absorbs the flavors and the extra water (if any).

Open the lid and fluff gently with a fork. Serve hot.
