How to make Chana Masala. ( Maharashtrian style)

    Ingredients to make Chana Masala :

  • Chana (dried) 1/2 cup
  • Onion 2
  • Tomato 1 1/2
  • Coconut grated ( dry, fresh) 1 tbsp / Coconut milk
  • Ginger grated 1 tsp
  • Garlic crushed 1 tsp
  • Khada masala ( cinnamon, cloves, pepper, Bay Leaves)
  • Dhania powder 1 tsp
  • Turmeric 1/2 tsp
  • Salt, Chilli powder to taste
  • Oil 2 tsp
  • Coriander leaves finely chopped for garnishing 2 tsp
  • Fresh Cream 1 tbsp

    How to make Chana Masala :

  • Wash chana. Chop Onions.
  • Heat oil in pressure pan.
  • Add all khada masala. Let it splitter.
  • Take out from the pan for fresh grinding.
  • Now add Onions and saute
  • Add grated grated ginger, garlic, Dhania powder, turmeric and chili powder.
  • Daute for 2 minutes. Now add hot water.
  • As water boils add chana and mix well.
  • Cook for 5 to six whistles.
  • Blend tomatoes. Heat oil in a separate pan. Add blended tomatoes and saute.
  • Now add grated coconut to the tomatoes. You can use coconut milk too.
  • But that should be added after Tomatoes get sauted well.
  • Saute tomato coconut mixture well.
  • After it gets sauted add freshly ground garam masala
  • Now add your cooked chana. Aren’t they look tempting?
  • Add Chana to the tomato coconut mixture.
  • Take fresh cream ( malai) and beat.
  • Add to the gravy. . Mix well.
  • Adjust masala of your taste. Serve with garnish of coriander leaves.
