How to Cook Potato Pulao

Ingredients for Potato Pulao :

  • 2 cup basmati rice
  • 3 large potato
  • 2 bay leaf
  • 2 clove
  • 1 teaspoon mustard seeds
  • 3 curry leaves
  • salt as required
  • 2 green chilli
  • 1 teaspoon cumin seeds
  • 7 sprigs coriander leaves
  • water as required
  • 3 tablespoon vegetable oil
  • 4 green cardamom
  • 1 inch cinnamon stick
  • 2 onion
  • 1 teaspoon powdered turmeric
  • 3 cloves garlic
  • 1 teaspoon fennel seeds
  • 1/2 cup peas

How to Cook Potato Pulao :

  1. Rinse the raw rice under water and cook them in a rice cooker. Grind chopped garlic pieces along with tomatoes, green chilies, coriander leaves, fennel seeds and cumin seeds in a grinder jar on a high speed. Once you get a smooth paste, keep it aside.
  2. Place a pan over medium flame and pour oil in it. Once the oil is hot enough, add bay leaves, mustard seeds, chopped onions, green cardamoms, cloves and cinnamon stick in it. Saute till the onions turn golden brown in color. Now, add curry leaves to it and saute for a few seconds. Add the paste prepared in the first step along with turmeric powder in it and give it a good stir.
  3. Now, add the chopped potatoes and peas to it. Cook them with the rest of the mixture. Check for the rice now, if it’s cooked then add it to the pan and stir well. Drizzle some little salt over it and mix. Cover the pan with a lid and simmer for 5-7 minutes.
  4. Remove the lid now and mix the whole pulao really well over medium flame. Transfer it to a large serving bowl and your potato pulao is now ready. Serve it hot.
