Ingredients for Navadhanya Sundal :

  • 1 tablespoon bean black-eyed
  • 1 tablespoon kala chana
  • 1 tablespoon white peas
  • 1 tablespoon mung bean
  • 1 tablespoon chickpeas
  • 1 tablespoon peas
  • 1 tablespoon kabuli chana
  • 1 tablespoon raw peanuts
  • 1 tablespoon chana dal
  • 2 teaspoon chopped raw mango
  • 1 tablespoon grated coconut
  • salt as required
  • 1 tablespoon urad dal
  • 1 teaspoon coconut oil
  • 1 teaspoon mustard seeds
  • 2 red chilli
  • 1 pinch asafoetida
  • 6 curry leaves

How to Cook Navadhanya Sundal :

  1. Take all the legumes in equal quantities in a large bowl and wash well under cold running water. Then, soak them together in water for 6 hours or overnight. It is better if you soak them overnight as it will save your time.
  2. Take a pressure cooker and add the legumes with water and salt in it. Place over medium flame and cook till you hear 3 whistles. After that, turn off the flame and let the steam release on its own. Take out the legumes in a large bowl and keep aside.
  3. Heat oil in a deep pan over medium flame and put coconut oil in it. When the oil is hot enough, add mustard seeds, urad dal, red chillies, raw mango, curry leaves and asafoetida in it. Saute for a minute and then, add the cooked legumes in it. Mix them well with a big spoon and fry for a few more minutes. Once the ingredients are nicely cooked, take out in small bowls.
  4. Serve hot.
